I use different techniques
of silk painting
different effect techniques
(from the simple water- and salt effects) and combinations of all mentioned
above. I also teach all those techniques - you are welcome to visit my studio
and take a course or some individual lessons!
After the
painting is complete, each silk item is placed in a special steam pot for
setting the dyes. The silk is kept in the steaming pot for 3 hours. This
steaming process creates a chemical reaction between the dye and the silk
cloth, allowing it to form a permanent bond with the silk fibers. This allows
the colors in the silk to be permanent - water and light resistant.

I plan to
introduce in this page some silk painting ideas step-by- step and illustrated
with photos. The first three stories - painting cornflowers with
gutta and without
contours, and painting a
silk scarf with a skating star in combined technique - is ready now. I also
have done a silk painting video
with the help of my friend Pille. The video is in Estonian, but the language of
painting is universal, so I hope you will get the main idea!
